Uncereal

Let's talk about "Uncereal." As many of you now know, almost all commercial cereals are blood-sugar-spiking, chemical-laden, food-like products that you shouldn't force on your worst enemy, much less feed to your precious children. (Yes, I feel strongly about this.)

As an alternative, Uncereal is a bowl of nutrient-dense whole foods, primarily proteins and healthy fats. I whip this up in the mornings when I don't feel like going to a lot of effort. You can even premix a large amount for even more time savings.

I pick whichever nuts, seeds, dried or fresh fruits, and milk alternative I feel like using that day. Because it's so nutrient-dense, you only need 3/4 - 1 cup to make a meal of it. Here are various ingredients to consider.

Sliced, chopped, or broken up nuts

  • Almonds

  • Pecans

  • Walnuts

  • Cashews

  • Brazil

  • Macadamias

  • Hazelnuts

Seeds

  • Pumpkin (pepitas)

  • Chia

  • Hemp

  • Sunflower

Extras

  • Frozen, chopped, or fresh bananas

  • Frozen or fresh berries

  • Dried fruit like currants, blueberries, or raisins (avoid dried fruit during RESTART)

  • Chopped apple, pear, peach

  • Cacao nibs

  • Cacao powder

  • Coconut (flakes or shredded)

  • Cinnamon, ground

  • Pinch of ground clove

  • Vanilla

Liquid

  • Coconut milk

  • Almond milk

  • Cashew milk

You can throw it all in and go, or use a food chopper to give it a finer consistency. I'm lazy and just throw it in, but that definitely works the jaw muscles more.

As you can see, you can mix and match all sorts of ingredients to create different flavor profiles, so use your imagination!
